Vertical Blind Alternative - You Do Have A Choice!
Vertical Blind Alternative
gives you a choice and new choices are being added each year. The problem being that people either love verticals or they hate them. For those that hate them there were not many options.
Regardless wether you hate them or love them verticals are versatile, perhaps the most versatile of all the window treatments. This versatility is what causes the problems.
By nature, verticals are a cold window treatment. No matter how you dress them they are cold - very business like. So they came up with the idea of adding sheers over the top of the vertical vanes to add softness.
This gave birth to the Vertical Shadings
line of window treatments. These treatments have been around for some time now. One of the most popular is the Mystique Vertical Soft Shadings.
. These types of window treatments are awesome to look at. The sheer softens the vertical and creates a nice visual experience.
The "Vertical Shadings" are not for families with children or active pets. They are fragile as you might expect being they are primarily sheer drapes over verticals. Any sheer is fragile.
You can get the sheers with either a regular hem, double turned 4", or you can get then with a European chain link hem. I prefer the standard hem as down here in South Florida the European Hem has a tendency to rust and break.
Another Vertical Blinds Alternative is the Vertiglide or cell shade alternative. What they do is take a cell shade material turn it the opposite direction, railroad the material, mount it on a headrail and create a vertical blind alternative.
This creates a great looking blind, the only drawback is you can't see out your window when it's in use.
Bali has taken these shades to another level with their "Verticell" brand of shadings. These blinds are a joy to use and create quite a nice visual effect on your room when in use.
The Third type of vertical blind alternatives is the Sliding Panel Window treatment. All of the major companies have jumped on the bandwagon and each has come out with their system of sliding panels.
The sliding panels usually come in three types. They are made with either Solid Fabric
, Woven Wood
or Sheerweave
type materials. These materials are cut into individual panels and stack behind each other when not in use. When in use they create a neat visual experience for the occupant of the room.
All three of the vertical blind alternatives do a great job. Unfortunately none of them are as versatile as the vertical but if you hate verticals you will love these vertical blind alternatives.
