Wood Blinds – Real or Fake?
When you want to buy blinds made of wood for your home, you need to be aware that there are real wood and faux wood blinds. There are several criteria that will make your decision on buying the best one for your needs:
- For obvious reasons, faux wood blinds are cheaper than their real alternative. If you look at the real deal, it is made of hardwood and as the cost of cutting the wood is quite expensive, not to mention the cost of transporting it to a proper location, having it treated with the proper chemicals and then finally having it put together in a nice looking set of blinds. Thus if cost is crucial when deciding which one to buy, go with the fake one.
- Some areas in the house are more humid than others, such as bathrooms or kitchen, or if available, the ironing or steaming room. Thus having real wood blinds is not appropriate for such places as the blinds will be exposed to humidity and will be destroyed easily.
- Depending on the window area you want to cover, let’s say if the windows are quite large, you might as well buy blinds made of real wood. The reason is that real wood blinds are cheaper than their faux counterparts. Yes, they might be a bit more costly, but the faux material is heavier and will result in a difficult time with raising the blinds or lowering them every day.
No matter which you choose, buying a set of blinds made of wood, whether real or faux, makes your home improve its looks for anyone who passes by your windows.
